SHSS Faculty Presents at Florida International Educators Association State Conference
Elena Bastidas, Ph.D., faculty in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) presented her research on “Development of Global Courses to foster Scholarship of Engagement: Experiences from Ecuador and Suriname” at the Florida International Educators Association 2012 State Conference. The theme of the conference was “Looking Towards New Horizons in International Education.” The conference was held at Florida Atlantic University’s main campus in Boca Raton, FL. Bastidas has led SHSS student groups to Ecuador and Suriname. She will lead another group to Ecuador during the upcoming summer term.
Bastidas’ research interests include conflict analysis and resolution, economics, conservation and development, gender and development, development of appropriate technology for small farmers, livelihood systems and quantitative methods.
