SHSS Faculty Presents at the AGLSP Conference and Highlights the Scholarship of Engagement
Judith McKay, J.D. Ph.D
Judith McKay, J.D. Ph.D., chair of the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in NSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), presented at the 2014 Association for Graduate Liberal Studies Programs (AGLSP) Annual Conference and Meeting in Philadelphia. The conference theme was “Revolutions: Past, Present, and Future,” and was held at the University of Pennsylvania. The Master of Arts in Cross-disciplinary Studies program (MACS) in DMS was accepted as an Associate Member of ASLSP in 2011. The ASLSP is housed at Duke University.
McKay’s presentation was entitled: “New Ways to Connect the Academy and the Community: The Role of the Scholarship of Engagement to Address Issues in the Community.” The session highlighted NSU’s community involvement and the scholarship of engagement.
McKay’s research and teaching interests include organizational conflict and change, public policy, family and community violence, strategic planning, and crisis intervention. She is also the director of Community Resolution Services (CRS), which offers a variety of services to the local community including training, workshops, consultation, conflict coaching, and conflict resolution intervention.
