SHSS Faculty Presents at the Association for Graduate Liberal Studies Programs Conference

Judith McKay, J.D. Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), gave a presentation at the 2011 Association for Graduate Liberal Studies Programs Annual Conference sponsored by Skidmore College in NY. The Master of Arts in Cross-disciplinary Studies program in DMS was accepted as an Associate Member of ASLSP in 2011.

McKay’s presentation was entitled:  “Farming, Fishing, Boating, and Development:  The Need for Multidisciplinary Approaches to Conflicts Regarding Water in South Florida.” The session provided a review of several high profile conflicts in South Florida and the need for multidisciplinary and multi-modal perspectives.

McKay also directs Community Resolution Services (CRS). CRS offers training and workshops, as well as mediation, facilitation, conflict coaching, and community building services, to individuals, families, groups, and organizations to resolve conflicts on the NSU campus and out in the broader community.
