SHSS Faculty Presented at Florida Consortium for Women’s Studies Annual Conference

Judith McKay, J.D., Ph.D.

Judith McKay, J.D., Ph.D., associate professor and Chair of the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), gave a presentation at the Florida Consortium for Women’s Studies Annual Conference hosted at Florida Atlantic University. The Consortium had speakers from across the US and around the globe. McKay’s presentation was entitled: “Gender, Identity, and Conflict: Perspectives from our Elders on Identity, Gender Roles, Conflict, and Change.”

The presentation was based on the first part of a study in which a timeline was constructed of significant events in the 20th and 21st centuries including historical, political, socio-economic, and cultural (including music, media, arts, movies, and television, etc), as a foundation for a qualitative study  and eventually a quantitative study.

McKay has also been accepted to present this work at the annual joint conference of the popular Culture Association and the American Culture Association (PCA/ACA) in San Antonio, Texas.
