SHSS Faculty to Present Workshop for Tallahassee Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
Paul Gallant, Ph.D., faculty in the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) will present a workshop for the Tallahassee Association for Marriage and Family Therapy on Sept. 17. Gallant’s presentation is entitled, “Meaning Making: Using the Metaphors of Map, Journey, and Landscape in Narrative Therapy.” Gallant will focus on applying narrative principles to complex issues including trauma, damaged identities, ethical practice, and work with children, families, and couples. Actual clinical video, handouts, and interactive exercises will help illustrate the power of pragmatic narrative questions of meaning and identity.
Gallant is also the coordinator for the Consortium for Narrative Research and Practice, housed in SHSS. The Consortium is a collaboration among the SHSS Departments of Family Therapy, Multidisciplinary Studies, and Conflict Analysis and Resolution for the benefit of students, faculty, alumni, and individuals from the local, national, and international communities. For further information about the work of the Consortium, please contact Gallant at 954-262-3039 or pgallant@nova.edu.
