SHSS Faculty Present on Family Violence at the DRC Conference in Orlando
Judith McKay, J.D., Ph.D., chair of the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies (DMS) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), presented a workshop for mediators, arbitrators, other conflict resolution practitioners and scholars at the Dispute Resolution Center’s (DRC) Annual Conference. The conference was held during Aug. 23-25 in Orlando.
McKay’s workshop was entitled, “The Latest Research, Trends and Interventions in Family Violence.” Topics covered included the typology of intimate partner violence, interventions, the role of culture and systemic community approaches. Participants were able to earn Continuing Mediation Education units.
McKay’s research and teaching interests include family violence, public policy, organizational conflict, conflict coaching, conflict resolution applied processes, and strategic community planning. McKay directs Community Resolution Services (CRS). CRS provides services to the community including workshops and training.
