SHSS Faculty Participates in Authors’ Conference in South Africa
Ismael Muvingi, Ph.D., faculty member the Graduate School of Humanities & Social Sciences’ Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) , was invited by the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) to contribute a chapter to the edited volume titled, Deconstruction Women, Peace and Security: A Critical Review of Approaches to Gender Empowerment. Muvingi’s single authored chapter is titled, “Using Political Space: Reclaiming Agency.”
ACCORD is involved in ongoing efforts to highlight the role of gender in peace and security and is focused on bringing scholars together to discuss efforts to enhance the situation of women in peace and security realms.
The authors participated in a roundtable authors’ conference in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa. The conference was sponsored by SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
