SHSS Faculty Members facilitate Workshops and Present with Alum at the Florida Dispute Resolution Conference
Alexia Georgakopoulos, Ph.D., faculty in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in NSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), presented a workshop at the 22nd Annual Florida Dispute Resolution Conference in Orlando. Her presentation was entitled, “Organizational Conflict Management: The Emergence of Mediators and Conflict Resolution Consultants.” The co-presenters were Harold Coleman, J.D., and DCAR doctoral graduate, Rebecca Storrow, Ph.D. Storrow is a regional vice president with the American Arbitration Association (AAA) in Miami. Coleman is senior vice president of the American Arbitration (AAA) and director of Mediation.org.
Georgakopoulos also provided a workshop at a Mediation Education Seminar entitled, “Are You Culturally Literate?” for the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators. In July she was a panelist at the Broward County Crime Commission’s Conference on Adult Bullying. Her areas of research and teaching interests include mediation, facilitation, intercultural communication, and conflict resolution.
