SHSS Faculty Member Presents at Comparative and International Education Society in New Orleans
Cheryl Duckworth, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), presented at the 2013 conference for the Comparative and International Education Society held in New Orleans . The theme of the conference was: “Educational Quality: Global Imperatives and Contested Visions.”
Duckworth’s presentation was entitled: “Teaching Terror: 9/11 and Collective Memory in American Classrooms”. Duckworth is the faculty facilitator for the Peace and Conflict Education Working Group at SHSS. The group seeks to equip and empower schools worldwide to be examples and builders of peace, and to promote activities and curricula that can help extend peace to the local communities.
