SHSS Faculty Member Participates in Academic Delegation to Taipei
Cheryl Duckworth, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Conflict Analysis and Resolution (DCAR) in NSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), traveled to Taipei, China as part of an academic delegation focused on human rights, development and peace issues. The trip was organized by the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Miami and participants met with groups including women’s organizations, governmental agencies, universities including Academia Sinica and Soochow University in Taipei, the Economic Development Corporation and Cross Straights Foundation. In addition, the delegation visited historical sites and enjoyed lectures on various topics.
Duckworth is the faculty facilitator for the Peace and Conflict Education Working Group at SHSS. The group seeks to equip and empower schools worldwide to be examples and builders of peace, and to promote activities and curriculum that can help extend peace into the local communities.
