SHSS Alumna Publishes Book Chapter on Mediation Programs; Receives Grant from Creighton University
Jacqueline Font-Guzman, J.D., Ph.D., doctoral graduate of NSU’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), has written a chapter on court-annexed mediation programs in Puerto Rico and the US in the book, Mediación y Resolución de Conflictos: Técnicas y Ámbitos, eds. Soleto-Muñoz, Carretero-Morales, and Ruiz-López. The book received the 2012 Madrid Mediators Association (AMMI) award for best publication in mediation. In addition, she received a grant from the Office for Academic Excellence and Assessment at Creighton University to explore and assess student learning.
Font-Guzman is an associate professor at the Werner Institute for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution at the School of Law at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She received a Fulbright Fellowship and served as a senior lecturer at the Carlos III University Law School in Madrid in the spring in 2012. In addition to her doctoral degree from NSU, she holds a J.D. degree from the Interamericana University of Puerto Rico, a Master of Health Administration (M.H.A.) from Saint Louis University and a B.A. from Coe College.
