SHSS Alum named Executive Director of the Georgia Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
Shatavia Thomas, D.M.F.T., graduate of the doctoral program in the Department of Family Therapy (DFT) in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), has been named Executive Director of the Georgia Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (GAMFT) in Atlanta. In addition to her work at GAMFT, Thomas maintains a private practice where her areas of interest include couples, family and premarital counseling, loss and grief issues, transitions, and spirituality concerns.
Thomas also holds an M.S. in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University. Her previous clinical work includes outpatient counseling, juvenile court family therapy, and student counseling for undergraduate and graduate students. She also provides clinical supervision to MFT students as an Adjunct Professor/AAMFT Supervisor Candidate for Mercer University School of Medicine’s Marriage and Family Therapy Program at the Atlanta/Piedmont Campus.
