SHSS’ African Peace and Conflict Network to Host Film Screenings

The Africa Peace and Conflict Network (APCN) housed in the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), will host two film screenings and a presentation by Abubakr Elnoor, Ph.D.

The first film in the two-part film screening series, “War Dance,” will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 6. This film documents the lives of three children living in a displacement camp in northern Uganda as they compete in their country’s national music and dance festival. “Throw Down Your Heart,” the second film in the series, will be screened on Tuesday, Mar. 20. The film features American banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck during his journey to Africa to record an album while exploring the little known African roots of the banjo.

Both screenings will be held in room #2081 of the DeSantis Building at 2:30pm on their respective dates.

These events are free and open to the public.
