Shepard Broad Law Center Student Awarded 2014 Summer Fellowship with Legal Aid Service of Broward County
Marlin Muller, a second year Law Center student, was awarded a 2014 Summer Fellowship with Legal Aid Service of Broward County. This fellowship is awarded to an outstanding student annually and is sponsored by NeXT, the young professionals group that supports Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Coast to Coast Legal Aid of South Florida. Muller, an Infantryman with the Army National Guard, received the award at the Bridge to Justice Breakfast fundraiser and is pictured with Maj. Gen. William M. Matz, Jr. (US Army Ret.), past president of the National Association for Uniformed Services (NAUS), which advocates in Congress for service members, veterans and their families.
The event had attendees from numerous business interests in the Broward community, and focused on how these two legal aid organizations work cooperatively and collaboratively with area partners to deliver pro bono programs and services to veteran clients and their families.
NAUS was founded in 1968 and is the only military affiliated association that represents the entire military/veteran family. No other association provides such broad representation when dealing with Congress, the White House, and the Pentagon. NAUS represents all seven branches of the uniformed services including Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, including all components (active duty, Reserve, National Guard), veterans, their spouses, widows/widowers, and all grades and ranks – both enlisted and officer.
