Sharks Celebrate NSU Pride at 2013 CommunityFest
NSU’s annual CommunityFest was bigger and better than ever, with Sharks from across the state celebrating around NSU’s Gold Circle Lake at the recent 2013 festivities.
NSU students, faculty, staff, and their families were invited to take part in the Feb. 9 extravaganza designed to celebrate and connect the NSU community.
This year’s CommunityFest featured more than 100 lively activity booths hosted by various NSU clubs, organizations and departments, and fun foods like popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, and slushies.
Large-scale activities included:
- 36 ft. Shark Slide and a 15 ft. Velcro Sticky Wall
- Sports Bungee Run and a Bounce House
- Paddle boats and a 28 ft. rock climbing wall
- Caricaturists Artist, Dunk Tank, Balloon Artist and Face Painters
- A “Kids Town” play area for our youngest Sharks
- A petting zoo with pony rides
- The Miami Dolphins Interactive station
- A photo booth to capture CommunityFest memories
With entertainment provided by:
- NSU Vocal Ensemble, Riff Tides, and other student performers
- NSU Cheerleaders, and Sharkettes Dance Team
- NPHC Unity Step
- University School Sunsations
- Beatles Cover Band, and Local Bands Retrio & Shatter Glass
- Music provided by Radio X
And vendors including:

NSU’s CommunityFest was developed in 2004 by Michelle Manley, an NSU alumna who was a student at the time and wanted to bring the university community together and build school spirit.
