Sharks Baseball Claims the SSC Title on Senior Day: Nap No. 2 Seed in NCAA South Regional

Sharks set NCAA program records for wins in a season and conference wins in a season.

For the first time in program history, the top-ranked Nova Southeastern University Sharks (38-11, 18-6 SSC) are the champions of the Sunshine State Conference. With two wins on Saturday over the Barry University Buccaneers (21-28, 8-16 SSC), the Sharks set the NCAA era record for total wins in a season and conference wins in a season. Complete Release

Now for the third time in five seasons under head coach Greg Brown, NSU’s baseball team  is back in the NCAA Tournament. The Sharks were selected as the No. 2 seed in the NCAA South Region, and will travel to Livingston, Alabama to compete in the South Region tournament.

NSU will face rival Lynn University (34-13-1, 14-9-1 SSC) in the first round of the South Region Tournament on Thursday afternoon in Livingston, Ala. at the host site of top-seeded West Alabama. The Sharks have faced four of the other five teams in the regional, compiling a 9-3 record including sweeps over the University of Tampa and Albany State University.

From the top seed down, the tournament is compiled of West Alabama, NSU, Tampa, Florida Tech, Lynn and Albany State. West Alabama and Albany State join the Sharks as automatic qualifiers after winning the Gulf South Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, respectively.

The tournament is a double elimination style tournament. The winner of the South Region tournament will advance to the NCAA Division II College World Series from May 23-30 in Cary, N.C. Stay tuned to www.NSUSharks.com for daily updates on the tournament.
