Sharks Assist with Special Olympics Basketball Tournament
Student-athletes from the men’s golf team and the volleyball team recently volunteered with the Special Olympics Broward County basketball tournament in the Don Taft University Center.
Volunteers from both teams assisted the various teams competing Saturday. Some escorted the teams around the venue, while others operated the scoreboard and kept the score book. The Broward County chapter of Special Olympics holds a close tie with NSU and houses its offices on the main campus. Through that working relationship, student-athletes have routinely volunteered to help run basketball tournaments annually.
In addition, rowing seniors Haley McKissack (Orange Park, Fla.) and Megan O’Donnell (Lake Worth, Fla.) attended the tournament to cheer on the team from Victory Living, who have attended almost every home NSU event inside the NSU Arena over the last couple of seasons.
