Science-Based Medicine Conference to be Held at HPD, Feb. 19 & 20
The Robert Fishman Institute for Training & Research will be hosting a conference on science-based medicine at NSU’s Health Professions Division on Feb. 19 and 20. Called “Think Outside The Box, The Next Generation Continues… 2001”, the conference is about research, innovations, applications, and implementations.
The conference will allow participants to interact with and learn from other skilled health professionals with unique visions; explore nontraditional, science-based methods and treatments while earning up to 16 continuing medical education credits; learn about the “gut-brain connection” – how nutrition affects behavior; and how clinical nutrition may be used when medications don’t work, hormone balance and how your brain affects your body from New York Times bestselling author Daniel Amen, M.D. They will also hear about new advances in testing, inflammation causes and treatment, weight loss, vitamin D, and what’s new in endocrinology.
Conference registration rates vary from NSU students with valid IDs, who can attend for free, to $799 for other participants who are seeking full tuition for CME for up to 16 credits. A very special discount is available to NSU faculty. To register, please visit www.lef.org/OutsideTheBox or www.askRFI.com. You can also call 866-598-6752. The conference will be held at HPD’s Steele Auditorium.
There will also be a cocktail hour on the first day of the conference, Feb. 19, from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. The guest speaker will be Daniel Amen, M.D., author of The Amen Solution: The Brain Healthy Way to Lose Weight and Keep It Off and Change Your Brain Change Your Body. Amen, who will give a special lecture and sign books, is a brain imaging specialist, psychiatrist, and physician. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and CEO and medical director of Amen Clinics, Inc. The event is free for conference attendees and $35 to $40 for non-attendees. To reserve a spot, please call 866-598-6752.
