Schram led Sharks to 18 win season in second year.

Schram led Sharks to 18 win season in second year.

Nova Southeastern University tennis head coach Stephen Schram has been named the 2015 ITA South Region Coach of the Year, as announced Thursday, May 7.

Schram, who joined the team in the fall of 2013, led the Sharks to an 18-3 season. The Sharks finished second in the Sunshine State Conference and are ranked fifth in the nation according to ITA. Schram’s Sharks went 8-3 against nationally ranked teams and only lost to team’s ranked in the top-five.

NSU ended its season in the South Region Tournament, the Sharks’ first appearance in the NCAA postseason since 2009 and only their third ever regional appearance. After the regular season, NSU received seven All-Sunshine State Conference honors. That list included Petra Jurova (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia), the team’s lone All-SSC First-Team honoree in her first season at NSU.

Seven Sharks from this year’s active roster will return, along with the incoming recruiting class for 2015-16, the second class in Schram’s time in Fort Lauderdale.
