NSU College of Pharmacy students from the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy (SCCP) organization and NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine students from the Neuro-Psych club joined efforts to organize a second annual Interprofessional Health Screening on November 14, 2015.

The screening was held at Walgreens on Coral Way in Miami and more than 40 community members were served. Not only were participants provided with a free blood pressure screening, they also received counseling on how to properly monitor their blood pressure as well as healthy lifestyle habits to help keep their blood pressure at goal. The interprofessional event allowed pharmacy and medical students, accompanied by pharmacy faculty members Jose Valdes, Pharm.D., BCPP, and Tina Joseph, Pharm.D., BCACP, to work together to provide people from the community a collaborative perspective of care. The event encourages students of different disciplines to overcome communication barriers and learn from one another.
