Saladrigas Selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Team

Junior Laura Saladrigas

Nova Southeastern softball player Laura Saladrigas (Jr., Hollywood, FL) picked up her second post-season honor in as many days, garnering a selection to the Capital One Academic All-District Team on Thursday, May 3, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Saladrigas was one of 12 student-athletes selected to the Division-5 team, chosen as the district’s designated player. Members of the team are selected from the Gulf South, Southern Intercollegiate and Sunshine State Conferences. To be nominated for selection a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 and complete at least one full academic year at their current school. On the field, the player must be a starter or an integral reserve to their team.

A stellar student majoring in biology with a GPA of 3.36 and the Sharks’ deep-threat designated player, Saladrigas met both of the required qualifications. The junior holds one of the best GPAs on the team. She is also among the most dominant power hitters in the SSC having led the conference with 13 homers this season, setting a new single-season program record in that category. She finished in a three-way tie for the conference lead in RBI with 44, leading to a selection to the All-SSC Second-Team on Wednesday, May 2. Click here to read the complete release.
