Various student-athletes and athletic staff members teamed up with the Food Pantry of Broward and collected canned goods at the Nova Southeastern University volleyball Homecoming game on Friday, Nov. 13 to help feed those in need during this holiday season.

The Nova Southeastern University Student Athlete Advisory Committee provided complimentary admission for all those who donated non-perishable food items to the Pantry of Broward at volleyball’s Homecoming. Samantha Gestido (Sr., Hialeah, Fla.), SAAC President and women’s soccer team member, along with Caue Rodrigues (Jr., Sao Paulo, Brazil), men’s soccer SAAC Representative, recently delivered the collected food to the Pantry.

President Gestido mentioned how this sort community events impact SAAC by saying, “We are incredibly excited for the opportunity to partner with such a great organization that helps all those who need it most.”

Previously SAAC had organized the 2015 Fall Kickoff party in which all NSU sports teams donated nonperishable food items that also went towards the Food Pantry of Broward County. This time the gesture came from the fans attending the Homecoming celebration at the volleyball game. Without a doubt SAAC’s efforts continue to create a positive impact into the local community.
