The Rumbaugh-Goodwin Institute for Cancer Research at NSU participated in the Annual Meeting of American Association for Cancer Research on April 1  in Washington, D.C. The team presented a total of nine research papers, attended several presentations and educational sessions. Excitingly, one of the RGI research papers garnered the attention of several researchers who are interested in studying the mechanisms of tumor growth, angiogenesis and metastasis in MDM2 overexpressing cells. This paper will soon be published in one of the good impact factor, peer-reviewed journals.

In addition, RGI’s team had a chance to meet, listen, and gather feedback from several outstanding scientists that will have a profound impact on advancing our research projects and building a powerful professional network to start research collaborations in the near future. One of the most crucial outcomes of this conference is meeting with Dr. Helge Taubert, head of the division of Molecular Oncology and Clinical Urology, University Hospital of Erlangen, Germany, whom RGI will be establishing research collaboration to determine the correlation between MDM2 and cancer stem cells markers known as Piwi. Overall, the AACR conference of 2017 was a very successful conference for RGI which represented NSU with high-quality research presentations.
