Retired U.S. Army General David H. Petraeus to Speak at NSU, Feb. 6

The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences will welcome retired U.S. Army General David H. Petraeus, Ph.D., to NSU as part of the college’s Distinguished Speakers Series.

Gen. Petraeus served 37 years in the U.S. military, including as commander of coalition forces in Iraq and Afghanistan and as commander of the U.S. Central Command. Following retirement from the military in August 2011, he served for 14 months as the director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

During his military career, Gen. Petraeus served in Cold War Europe, the United States, Central America, Haiti, Bosnia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In the decade following the 9/11 attacks, he was deployed for nearly seven years, culminating his career with six straight commands, five of which were in combat.

He is now the chairman of KKR Global Institute, a visiting professor of public policy at CUNY’s Macaulay Honors College, a Judge Widney Professor at the University of Southern California, and a member of the advisory boards of several veterans’ organizations.

This Distinguished Speakers Series event is free to attend, but tickets are required.

 Monday, Feb. 3: Tickets become available to the general public.

Pick up tickets in the college’s Office of the Dean, located in the Mailman-Hollywood Building, second floor. Limit two (2) tickets per person. An NSU ID is required to obtain tickets for NSU students, faculty, and staff members. For more information, call (954) 262-8236.
