A Real NSU Honor: Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences Welcomes New Students into Undergraduate Honors Program
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences welcomed more than 100 new students into the Undergraduate Honors Program this fall. The program fosters intellectual community both within and across academic disciplines by offering special coursework, reading groups, and workshops to help students prepare for graduate school, advanced research, study abroad, and post-baccalaureate fellowships.
“Admission to the Honors Program reflects a personal and academic commitment,” said Don Rosenblum, Ph.D., dean of the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, welcoming new students and family members who attended the Honors induction ceremony at NSU on Aug. 22. “You are part of a select group of students, and you take on significant responsibility to represent your peers, this program, and the university.”
Students at the ceremony received a pin and recited a pledge, certifying their commitment to core academic values and goals as members of the program. More than 250 students and family members attended the event. Also in attendance were more than a dozen honors faculty members and several Honors Advocates (current Honors students who aid in planning co-curricular events and supporting honors events hosted by the college’s Office of the Dean). Following the induction, the faculty, students, and guests socialized over lunch.
