Professor of Management Participates on Diversity Panel

On Nov. 19, Bahaudin Mujtaba, D.B.A., professor of Management at the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship, made a presentation during the Third Annual South Florida Diversity Summit. The theme of the summit was “Promoting Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace: Perspective from Florida Organizational Leaders.”  The Summit was sponsored by the South Florida Diversity Alliance and was held in the Carl DeSantis Building on NSU’s main campus. The session was moderated by Delores M. Smiley, Ph.D., and Roland A. Foulkes. Professor Mujtaba served as a panel member along with the following:

o    Bruce J. Stewart (panel member and keynote speaker), Deputy Director of Training, Compliance, and Strategic Initiatives in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Personnel Management (OPM) at President Barak Obama’s Administration
o    Robert W. Runcie, Superintendent of Broward County Public Schools
o    Nadine Smith, Executive Director of Equality Florida
o    Alvin B. Jackson, Jr., Director for the Hallandale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency
o    Larry McIntyre, Special Project Coordinator of Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

Bruce J. Stewart currently serves as the Deputy Director of Training, Compliance, and Strategic Initiatives in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and is responsible for the coordinated implementation of the President’s Executive Order on Diversity and Inclusion.  He is a retired Lt Colonel from the United States Air Force (October 2007), after 23 years of service.  After his retirement, Stewart founded i-Global Network Inc., which serves as a Management Consultant firm that specializes in helping organizations create healthy cultures. i-Global Network does this through a focus on leadership, diversity, team-building, and cultural change education. Recently, Stewart completed a book on diversity leadership titled, “Cultural Leadership: The New Chemistry of Leading Differently.” His second book, which is scheduled to be published in early next year, is titled Diversitopia: Applying the Lessons of Nature to the Challenges of Difference.
