Pride Bite: NSU Presents Donors with Shark Statue
Did you know?
NSU recently recognized NSU donors whose cumulative giving to NSU exceeds 1 million dollars. In appreciation of their generosity, they were presented with a limited edition Maquette of the Kent Ullberg’s 30 foot Mako shark statue, which is located in front of the Don Taft University Center.
NSU is so appreciative of their commitment and generosity to the university.
The recipients of the shark statue were:
- Steve and Madelaine Halmos. Mr. Halmos is one of the newest members of the Board of Trustees and was inducted into the Huizenga School of Business Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in 2000. Mr. and Mrs. Halmos established an endowment for scholarships for undergraduate students interested studying the marine sciences and Mr. Halmos serves as a mentor through the new Executives and Entrepreneurs in Residence program at the Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship.
- Panza, Maurer, & Maynard, P.A. – Panza, Maurer and Maynard serve as General Council for NSU and have been with the university for over 25 years. The firm has been the presenting sponsor of the Celebration of Excellence for the last three years. The firm established an endowed scholarship fund for students at the Shepard Broad Law Center, among being supporters of many other events and tournaments.
- Lorraine Thomas – Mrs. Thomas and her late husband Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s, established an endowed undergraduate scholarship fund for the Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship. After Mr. Thomas’ passing, Mrs. Thomas established an endowed graduate student scholarship fund in the Center for Psychological Studies. She is also a member of the Royal Dames of Cancer Research, and is an avid supporter of the Rumbaugh Goodwin Institute for Cancer Research here at NSU.
