Some NSU students pigged out to cope with their exams, but not the way you may think. Multiple studies have shown that interactions with therapy animals can decrease stress in humans. NSU put this to the test – literally. Wilbur, the potbellied pig and a few of his canine friends from the Humane Society of Broward County – Animal Assisted Therapy Program, visited students from NSU’s Health Professions Division at the HPD Library to help them de-stress during exam time. This was one of two similar events hosted by the HPD Library that attracted large crowds and gave students a much-needed break.
