The fifth and final module of the inaugural Leadership Training Program, “Performance Management” was led by two staff members from the Office of Human Resources: Peggy J. Anderson, M.S., executive director, and Maureen Simunek-Appelt, M.B.A., learning manager. The class, which was held on Mar. 16, focused on the roles and responsibilities in performance management; strategies to hire individuals; considerations in determining appropriate delegation of tasks; motivation strategies; various means of rewarding employees; coaching strategies, and best practices in developing corrective action plans.
The five modules included “Performance Management,” “Communication in the Workplace,” “Managing Conflict/Change,” “Measurement/Project Management,” and “Leadership Visioning & Planning.” Content specialists for each module were selected from NSU’s extensive cadre of experts.
The workshops, comprised of 48 NSU leaders who supervise three or more personnel, piloted the classes for all NSU supervisors. The participants represented a variety of NSU administrative and academic units.
The Leadership Training Program will roll out as a mandatory program by early Fall 2012. For more information, please contact Maureen Simunek-Appelt at 954 262-7869 or maureens@nsu.nova.edu.
