Phi Delta Chi Support Individuals with Down Syndrome Via Just Dance 2013

College of Pharmacy’s (NSU COP) Beta Lambda Chapter of the Professional Pharmacy Fraternity Phi Delta Chi (PDC) participated in the Just Dance 2013 charity event.

On February 9 at Café Iguana in Pembroke Pines, NSU’s College of Pharmacy’s (NSU COP) Beta Lambda Chapter of the Professional Pharmacy Fraternity Phi Delta Chi (PDC) participated in the Just Dance 2013 charity event.  This fun event provided information, advocacy and support concerning all aspects of life for individuals with Down syndrome.  Through the efforts of organizing pharmacist Gordon Garland of Memorial Regional Hospital, pharmacy students Quyen Trinh, Alexa Vyain, Ting Wong, Sydney Kchao and Priya Sahadeo along with numerous other PDC members, were able to help advertise the occasion, raise funds prior to the event, provide flowers, greet guests, assist in running a food / beverage service, engage participants of all ages through the fun spirit of dancing, and raise money for the Broward County Gold Coast Down Syndrome Organization [www.bgcdownsyndrome.org].

This is the third straight year NSU COP’s PDC chapter has participated in the event and every year continuesto build on the previous.  Subsequent to the event this year, Garland noted in reference to the 30+ participating students: “Please extend our sincere appreciation for being a pivotal part of our success and making these special people smile.”   The brothers of PDC’s Beta Lambda Chapter are proud to support the National Down Syndrome Congress sponsored We’re More Alike Than Different public awareness campaign [www.ndsccenter.org] and look forward to participating in this event for years to come.  The PDC students further noted their appreciation for the participation of the NSU COP chapter of the Student College of Clinical Pharmacy and presence of their faculty advisors, Sandra Benavides, Pharm.D. and Jennifer Steinberg, Pharm.D.
