Pharmacy Professor Receives mHealth Grant

Kevin Clauson, Pharm.D., associate professor from NSU’s College of Pharmacy

The McKesson Foundation recently announced that six researchers have received a total of $1.3 million in research grants as part of its Mobilizing for Health initiative to improve the health of underserved populations with chronic diseases through the use of mobile-phone technology. The first cycle of Mobilizing for Health grant recipients include Kevin A. Clauson, Pharm.D., associate professor at NSU’s College of Pharmacy. His research team will conduct a pilot study to assess the impact of SMS/text messages on medication adherence in patients with Type 2 diabetes. The mHealth study team also includes College of Pharmacy assistant professors Shara Elrod, Pharm.D., Angela Garcia, Pharm.D., and Elizabeth Sherman, Pharm.D.
