Performing and Visual Arts Students Shine at Annual Black Box Awards
Students from the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences gathered together to recognize their fellow stars at the fifth annual Black Box Awards ceremony at Nova Southeastern University on May 1. The student-run event celebrates outstanding work in the college’s theatre, dance, and music productions—both on stage and behind the scenes. This year’s ceremony also included “White Box Awards” for student work in the visual arts.
Students Alex Glamyan and Chris Waggoner served as the masters of ceremonies for the event. With the aid of student Chris Guzzardo, they also performed spoofs of the college’s 2010–2011 Season of the Arts performances throughout the awards ceremony.
Performers and artists were nominated by faculty members in the college’s Division of Performing and Visual Arts, and winners were chosen by event attendees, who voted in the weeks leading up to the ceremony. Awards are based on the students’ work presented throughout the past academic year. This year’s winners are
