Osteopathic Medical School Professor Receives PCORI Award
Nicole Cook, Ph.D., M.P.A., assistant professor of public health at NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, was awarded a $14,998 Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Pipeline to Proposal Tier 1 capacity building award. It will be used to convene a consortium of stakeholders (patients, providers, researchers, and others) committed to conducting comparative effectiveness research (CER) in fecal incontinence in primary care and to develop a stakeholder-informed CER research portfolio that identifies research gaps and topics for future research.
The long-term objective of Tier I funding is to use the skills, knowledge, and strength of the developed consortium to develop a successful research proposal that will improve the lives of patients living with fecal incontinence. The PCORI is an independent, nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010 to fund comparative effectiveness research that will provide patients, their caregivers, and clinicians with the evidence needed to make better-informed health and health care decisions. Colleagues interested in participating in the consortium should contact Cook at (954) 262-1505.
