Optometry Professor Gives Three Lectures in China
Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry Professor Bai-chuan Jiang Ph.D. delivered three academic lectures in China last year at three different schools.
At the Physics Department of Fudan University (in Shanghai) and the Ophthalmology and Optometry School of Wenzhou Medical College (in Wenzhou), he gave a two-hour lecture “How to start a research project” for their graduate students and faculty members. In this lecture, he used his published research results as examples to illustrate how he formed his research questions in these studies. At Tianjin Eye Hospital, he gave a full-day lecture. The topic was “Accommodation and Vergence,” in which he explained basic knowledge of accommodation and vergence of the eyes and introduced some research results from his studies in this area. The audience comprised ophthalmologists in the Tianjin local area, faculty from medical universities, and graduate students from the hospital and university.
At the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University, he provided a full day lecture on “Retinal image quality.” He systematically explained different assessments related to retinal image quality and the relationship between these assessments. The audiences were the graduate students and medical doctors in this hospital. Since he was visiting professor for Wenzhou Medical College, Tianjin Eye Hospital, and the Eye and ENT Hospital of Fudan University for many years, he was happy to visit and serve these institutions regularly to improve their education and research.
