Former Optometry Faculty Remembered
Former Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry faculty Manuel Bergman O.D. passed away on April 22. Bergman began as an Instructor with Southeastern University College of Optometry (NSU-CO) in 1989. He taught ophthalmic optics and retired from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (NSU-CO) in 2005 as an assistant professor.
He held a Doctor of Optometry from Illinois College of Optometry. Bergman owned an optometric practice in Chicago, and was also a licensed dispensing optician in Florida since 1956. Bergman also served as an associate professor at Miami Dade College as consultant and instructor for the Optometric Assistant Program. He was a branch manager for Eyes Right Optical. In his free time, Bergman was the Boy Scouts of America District Chairman of Advancement. He also enjoyed photography and was a licensed ham radio operator. Bergman was a founding faculty of NSU-CO, and a community leader who will be sorely missed.
NSU-CO extends its sincere sympathies to his family.
