Opening Reception: Catherine Opie: 700 Nimes Road, Feb. 11
February 11 At 6:00 - 8:00 pm
The Opening Reception for Catherine Opie: 700 Nimes Road will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 6:00-8:00 pm.
Catherine Opie: 700 Nimes Road presents new and recent work by Los Angeles-based artist Catherine Opie, an essential figure in contemporary photography. Opie’s photographs, taken over the course of six months at the Bel-Air, California home of the late actress Elizabeth Taylor, are inspired by William Eggleston’s images of Elvis Presley’s Memphis estate, Graceland. Opie creates a portrait of Taylor from her personal space and mementos that is not about the relationship to celebrity, but about “the relationship to what is human.”
Free for museum members; Free for NSU Students, Staff and Faculty; $10 non-members. RSVP: moareservations@moafl.org or 954-262-0258.
