Oceanograhic Center to host Mentorship Summit, Jan. 20
January is “Mentor Awareness Month” and NSU’s Oceanographic Center will be hosting its first Mentorship Summit on Jan. 20 from 5-8:00 p.m. The summit will provide the opportunity to raise thought-provoking inquiry on the importance of mentoring in the scientific community.
The graduate peer mentorship program’s purposeful and goal oriented relationship is directed towards increasing skills and capacity in some or all aspects of our students’ lives. Both residential and distance mentors are currently volunteering. The mentorship program promotes collaboration, helps to create a feeling of belonging, establishes a supportive environment for new students and increases Oceanographic Center students’ morale while reinforcing the goals, objectives and mission of NSU.
The mentors participating in the program are: Theresa Robitaille, Joyce Varela , Joan Lorraine Guerra, Jennifer Lash, Paola Espitia, Cody Bliss, Andia Chaves Fonnegra, Nicole D’Antonio, Keely Wells, Keri O’Neil, Sammy Woodward, Chris Lapointe, Andres Lester – Coll, Beranda Harper , Ari Halperin, Zach Ostroff, Chuck Walton, Jeffrey Ellis , Mark Rogers, Kristina Trotta, Stephanie Hayes, Jignasa Patel, Christiana Wittmaack, Stephanie Mclean, Shawn Martin, Julio Perez.
