Nursing Student Collects School Supplies to Send to Haiti
Going back to school can be an exciting time. However, if you are a child who resides in an underserved country going back to school can be a hardship.
Marie-Gilberte Thermidor, also known as “GG,” a student who just completed her 5th semester in NSU’s College of Nursing is well aware of this. Although she lives in South Florida, she has not forgotten the children in her former neighborhood in Haiti. She knows that those children would have no school supplies to start the school year.
Thermidor decided that she would do something about it. She started to collect school supplies to send to Haiti, and many of her colleagues donated backpacks, pencils, erasers, pens, paper and notebooks.
She will travel to Haiti to distribute the school supplies in September. Thanks to GG, 200 children will have the school supplies including children who will have to travel two hours to reach the distribution site.
