NSU’s Miami Campus to Host Forensic Psychology Day
If you are interested in learning more about forensic psychology, or know someone who may be interested in the field can plan to attend – Forensic Psychology Day on Saturday, March 19, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Hosted by NSU’s College of Psychology, the event will be held at the Miami Campus, 8585 SW 124th Avenue.
The event is free and open to the public, and attendees will receive a light breakfast and lunch. Seating is limited; attendees must RSVP online at http://www.nova.edu/sharkchats/index.html
The day-long event features the following break-out sessions:
- Ginger Lerner-Wren, J.D., Judge, 17th Judicial Circuit – “The Mental Health Court”
- David Shapiro, Ph.D. – “Psychology and Risk Assessment of Future Violence”
- Lenore Walker, Ed.D. – “Battered Women Who Kill in Self Defense.”
Attendees will discover the exciting field of forensic psychology, one of the many programs offered by NSU’s College of Psychology.
The master’s degree program in forensic psychology is a 36-credit, online program that presents information at the intersection of legal issues and psychology. Students are prepared to understand what forensic psychologists do so they can realize their potential and apply this training in a variety of professional contexts. This degree program provides students with the professional training necessary to function at an optimal level in a variety of forensic settings where psychology is used, including court cases, law enforcement, criminal justice, national security offices, prisons, social services agencies, child welfare agencies and treatment facilities.
