NSU’s Mailman Segal Center Earns AISF Reaccreditation

MSC - Water Play

The Mailman Segal Center

NSU’s Mailman Segal Center for Human Development (MSC) has received reaccreditation from the Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF). The Center received excellent results on both its self-study process and the report from the AISF evaluation committee’s site visit.

“AISF and MSC share a strong commitment to educational excellence,” said Roni Cohen Leiderman, Ph.D., dean of the Mailman Segal Center. “Parents can be assured of the high quality of our educational programs, knowing that we’ve met AISF’s stringent accreditation standards.”

The Center received initial AISF accreditation in 2011. During the current review, MSC was recognized for the following attributes: excellent student/teacher ratios, strong communication with parents, nurturing environment, quality family and community outreach programs, and high quality curriculum.

The Mailman Segal Center, located at the Jim & Jan Moran Family Center Village on NSU’s main campus, is the only university-based preschool in Broward County accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The center’s early childhood programs utilize its trademarked 5C Curriculum (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Cooperation, Concept Development and Communication) and include the Family Center Infant and Toddler Program, the Family Center Preschool, the Family Center Parenting Place and the Baudhuin Preschool, Starting Right and The Academy. MSC also houses the Unicorn Children’s Foundation Clinic which includes a Developmental Assessment Clinic, Feeding Clinic and Challenging Behavior Clinic.
