NSU’s Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine’s Research Seminar Series Returns, Sept. 2
NSU’s Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine’s Research Seminar Series is back! Join them at 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 2 in NSU’s Center for Collaborative Research, Room #440 (fourth floor) for “Increasing Resilience to Traumatic Stress: Understanding the Protective Role of Well-Being” presented by Jonathan Tory Toole, M.A. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Toole is a third-year student in the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Clinical Psychology program in NSU’s College of Psychology and has been working with Gordon Broderick, Ph.D., in the clinical systems biology group at the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine for just over two years. His main responsibilities are utilizing his extensive background in clinical psychology to ad psychological constructs such as depression, anxiety, and memory to the networks created by the systems biology group. The goal of this endeavor is to understand the unique systems that underlie diseases such as Gulf War illness and chronic fatigue syndrome from a psychological point-of-view in order to better understand symptomatology and potential clinical therapeutic treatment mechanisms.
Toole is originally from Georgia, and earned his bachelor’s degrees in psychology and religion from the University of Georgia. He earned his Master’s in General Psychology degree from New York University, where he studied fear memory reconsolidation and pain processing.
