NSU’s Inaugural Safety Fair

After 6 months of planning, the first NSU Safety Fair was successfully launched on June 20.  Over 400 faculty and staff came out to hear safety presentations and see demonstrations such as how to correctly use an Automated External Defibrillators (AED)  and learn about Natural First Aid Remedies which was presented by NSU Dr. Lynn Lafferty.  The 25+ exhibitors were overwhelmed by the outstanding turnout and enjoyed engaging NSU staff and faculty as they promoted safety in the workplace, community and home. The Safety Fair concluded with raffle prizes (2 TVs and much more) as well as the presentation of the first NSU Safety Award. The Award Selection Committee consisted of representatives from Risk Management, Department of Environmental Health & Safety along with the Public Safety Office.  They were excited to select Kevin-Andre Billings, Director of Business Intelligence and Reporting Services, OIIT as the first recipient.  Kevin has demonstrated outstanding commitment to safety throughout his 23 years of service at NSU and reflects a campus culture dedicated to safety. Jessica Brumley, Vice President of Facilities Management presented him with the award and $100 Visa gift card.
