NSU’s Human Services Unit Receives United Way Grant Award
The Human Services Unit of the Division of Applied Interdisciplinary Studies at NSU was recently awarded a $750,000 grant by United Way of Broward County to create a Center for Veterans Assistance over the next three years. This grant will constitute a partnership between NSU and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Stone of Hope Project to implement a wraparound services model program for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) returning veterans and their family members.
The project includes partnerships with WorkForce One and Senior Volunteer Services, and also represents a true collaboration within the university, with contributions from Enrollment and Student Services (Stephanie Brown, Ph.D., and Patrick Rafferty), H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship (J. Preston Jones, D.B.A.), NSU Children and Families Law Clinic (Brion Blackwelder), NSU’s Division of Clinical Operations (Robert Oller, D.O.). Project Co-Directors are Kim Durham, Psy.D., and Angela Yehl, Psy.D. Additional faculty on the project includes Denise Crammer, Psy.D., and Tim Scala, Psy.D.
