NSU’s Huizenga College Establishes University Alliance with CCIM
Students enrolled in the Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) program at Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship (HCBE) now have the opportunity to become a CCIM designee, a global standard for professional achievement, following graduation.
The CCIM Institute, a national organization of commercial real estate professionals, recently established NSU as University Alliance partnership that makes this possible. This is one of only 45 partnerships the institute currently holds with universities across the country.
“For professionals in the real estate field, the CCIM designation is as important as a CPA is to an accountant,” said Fred Forgey, director of the HCBE MSRED program. “We’re pleased to be able to offer this added benefit to our students.”
CCIM’s decision to form a partnership with us was based on the content and complexity of NSU’s program. The three core classes required for CCIM designation — Financial Analysis, Market Analysis and Investment Analysis – have been part of the MSRED curriculum.
“Our recent acceptance as a CCIM University FastTrack partner is a testament to the advancement of our program,” explained Matthew Rothstein, associate director, MSRED program. “We are excited to be joining this partnership with other designated schools such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Colombia University.”
According to Forgey, students who have completed the classes and who have graduated in the past 24 months are now eligible to apply for the fast track CCIM designation. They will still need to complete an online ethics course and negotiations training, meet portfolio requirements and pass the comprehensive CCIM exam.
