NSU’s Graduate Business Student Association (GBSA) Opens New Student Lounge
Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Graduate Business Student Association (GBSA) officially opened its student lounge, a comfortable area open to students for gathering, studying, and/or relaxing between classes.
As part of the opening ceremony, which was held July 31, 2017, Gabriel Mejia Polanco, GBSA President and Albert Williams, Ph.D., GBSA Faculty Advisor, acknowledged and thanked all the students, faculty and staff who helped in the process of building the student lounge. Williams, Ph.D., made mention that this was an initiative started by the 2016 GBSA student leaders and completed by the 2017 GBSA student leaders. “I want to acknowledge everyone’s extra effort to make this new student lounge possible. You did an excellent job on building this wonderful place,” said Williams.
“It always does my heart good when I see students doing a very impressive job together,” said Brad Williams, Ed.D., Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of the College of Undergraduate Studies. “It really makes me proud and gives me a good sense that this university is in really good hands, we’ve got incredible student leaders. This is the first time I’ve been here and I think this is absolutely gorgeous.”
Located on the 2nd floor of the Carl DeSantis Building on NSU’s Fort Lauderdale/Davie Campus, the student lounge is equipped with TV, video games, comfortable furniture, phone charging stations, refreshments, coffee station and more. The lounge was built with the purpose of providing students a comfortable and modern place to socialize, study and de-stress before or after classes.
“I think you have created a wonderful space for students to come study and especially relax during testing time,” said Mr. Steven Harvey, Assistant Dean of Program Administration at NSU’s H. Wayne Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship. “I would love to come here during weekends and watch a little bit of football with a couple of buddies like Brad Williams, so don’t be surprise if you see me around here!.”
“I commend you for what you have done so far and for what you’re going to be doing this upcoming academic year,” said Mr. Harvey, referring to GBSA members and other student leaders that were present.
The lounge will be opened to NSU students Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm and weekends from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
