NSU’s CVS Students Provide Health Screening Exams at Annual Health Fair
On Saturday, February 3, 2018, five faculty and 15 first-year students in NSU’s Cardiovascular Sonography (CVS) program performed nearly 90 heart and vascular health screening exams within a 5-hour period. The exams were provided to the medically under-served population in and around Clewiston, Florida.
These screenings were a part of the 16th annual Hendry-Glades Community Health Fair, an event organized by the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. The health fair also provides excellent clinical experience, Inter-Professional Education (IPE), and community outreach opportunities to nearly 200 NSU students in the programs of Pharmacy, Dental Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Nutrition, Audiology, Nursing, Osteopathic Medicine, Public Health, Respiratory Therapy, Optometry and Cardiovascular Sonography. Students came from the Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Tampa campuses to participate in the health fair.
