NSU’s Collaborative Efforts Benefit the Community
The annual Dean’s Luncheon held at the Fort Myers Student Educational Center (SEC) took place November 8, 2012. This luncheon was a collaborative event between the Colleges of Nursing and Health Care Sciences. Students from both colleges gathered with Richard Davis, Ed.D., dean of Health Care Sciences, and Marcella Rutherford, Ph.D., dean of Nursing. An Italian-style lunch was enjoyed by all in attendance, but after all had been served, there was a surplus of food left over; trays of pasta, lasagna, bread, etc.
Sholondo Campbell, M.S., assistant director of Student Affairs at Fort Myers, had the wonderful idea of finding a location where the food could be donated. The food was taken to the Community Cooperative Ministries Incorporated (CCMI) Center in Fort Myers. This community center is dedicated to feeding members of the community in need. Lisa Cronin, Volunteer Liaison for CCMI, sent a message of gratitude sharing how much the contribution helped. She reported that NSU’s food donation was shared with hundreds at the CCMI cafeteria, not only at Fort Myers, but at the cafeteria in Cape Coral as well. Job well done for the collaboration between the Colleges of Nursing, Health Care Sciences, and Fort Myers’ SEC that benefited many in need. Go Sharks!
