NSU’s Baseball National Championship Run Recognized at Marlins Park
In recognition of its 2016 national championship, the very first in program history, the NSU baseball team was warmly greeted by the fans in a pregame ceremony prior to the first pitch of the Miami Marlins game Tuesday night at Marlins Park.
Standing along the first base line, the club captured its very own big-league experience under the lights, all while exchanging words with the likes of Mets’ stars Jose Reyes and Noah Syndergaard. In addition, Sharks players wrapped the team’s No. 16 jersey around the national championship trophy to honor and pay tribute to late Miami starting pitcher Jose Fernandez, who passed away just days prior after a tragic boating accident.
The Sharks reeled off six consecutive wins during their historic postseason run, eventually edging top-ranked Millersville 8-6 to clinch the title.
