On Saturday, Dec. 10 NSU’s  Alvin Sherman Library, Research, and Information Technology Center celebrated its 10th anniversary by hosting a birthday party for children and families. Festivities included a special performance by the Shermanettes, arts and crafts, and a show by nationally known Fred Garbo Inflatable Theater Company.

Broward County and the Town of Davie also each presented Proclamations of Appreciation to the Alvin Sherman Library. The party was also the kickoff for a year of free anniversary-related, engaging, entertaining, and life-enriching activities.

The library’s goal has always been to provide top-notch service to the university and Broward County and for the past decade, the facility been doing just that through its high-caliber staff, and collections of research materials, specialized databases, popular books, magazines and journals, CDs, DVDs, special programs for children and teens, author readings, workshops, exhibits and more.

Special events will take place throughout the year surrounding the following themes: Celebrate 10 years… of Literacy, Shark Pride, Family, Summer, Fun, Research, Culture, History and Magic.
