NSU’s Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony to Be Held at BankAtlantic Center, May 14
The Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences, the Fischler School of Education and Human Services, and the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship will jointly hold NSU’s 2011 Undergraduate Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 14, beginning at 11 a.m. at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise. The NSU community is invited to attend as NSU celebrates and honors the achievements of its graduating students. Tickets are not required for admission to the ceremony.
The college also welcomes Elizabeth Kapu’uwailani Lindsey, Ph.D., who will deliver the keynote talk at Commencement as part of the college’s Distinguished Speakers Series. Lindsey is the first female Fellow and Polynesian explorer in the history of the National Geographic Society. An award-winning filmmaker and anthropologist, she travels to the world’s most fragile regions to document and preserve knowledge critical to navigating the complexity of our times. Her documentary film Then There Were None chronicles the near extinction of native Hawaiians.
Lindsey also works with United Nations Ambassadors on behalf of environmental refugees affected by the climate crisis. An active humanitarian and former Miss Hawaii, she serves on international boards and has created scholarships for women and children in India and Hawaii.
The night before Commencement on Friday, May 13, graduating students, their families, and their friends are invited to attend the annual Baccalaureate Reception. The reception provides the NSU community with an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of graduates in a social setting. The event is free and will begin at 6 p.m., in the Don Taft University Center. Business attire is required.
Each year, the Undergraduate Commencement ceremony pays tribute to NSU’s distinguished graduating students. Please join the university in recognizing the hard work and dedication of these students in earning their bachelor’s degrees.
